This is a bilingual position.

•Provides reception services (e.g. general telephone line, telephone referrals, visitors, mail and deliveries) and general administrative assistance for the regional office by responding to telephone and in-person enquiries from the general public, clients and others.

•Receives, reviews and accepts legal documents properly served on the Public Prosecution Service of Canada; coordinating the receipt/delivery of legal documents/material by courier for the regional office.

•Receives and responds to queries regarding the status of cases/files and on administrative matters from the courts, police offices, unrepresented accused and opposing counsel/witnesses to be used by these parties to clarify issues/questions and to make decisions.

•Liaises with courts, client departments, agents, third parties, unrepresented accused and opposing counsel to obtain and relay information or documents necessary for matters to proceed. Response to RIMS and iCase inquiries from legal counsel, probation officers, city and regional administrators, local and community RCMP Officers regarding straight forward factual knowledge and reference materials. Redirects inquiries concerning Court, court dockets, court circuits and police files to appropriate resource.

•Ensures and/or oversees the provision of a comprehensive registry operation service to the prosecutors (from opening and closing files, receiving the legal documents, registering the files in RIMS and iCase, performing file maintenance, ensuring file completeness, tracking the files, and ensuring proper retention and disposal of files) when required to support the records office.

•Assembles, packages, sends or, during planned meetings, personally hands over disclosure material and ensures a notification of receipt is signed, to defence counsel or unrepresented accused who use this information to review the charges and evidence against the accused in order to make decisions regarding defence strategies and pleas.
