Assistant Store Operator

Mark’s Work Wearhouse is looking for individuals who have a passion for enhancing the customer's shopping experience. As a member of our team, the Assistant Store Operator will contribute to the financial results of the store and ensure customers' needs are satisfied. The primary role of the Assistant Store Operator is to work along side the Store Operator to maximize all sales opportunities and assist in managing expenses and delivering front line contribution. The Assistant Store Operator, in the absence of the Store Operator, is responsible for the day to day operations of the store.

Business and Financial Management
Responsible for taking appropriate actions to achieve success in areas of sales targets, payroll budgets, inventory shrink levels and other budgeted and forecasted numbers to positively impact the front line contribution of the store.
Accountable for the store’s sales results, maximizing internal and external opportunities; as well as identifying, assessing, and championing new business opportunities.

People Leadership
Leading and coaching employees in selling skills as well as coaching in areas of product knowledge, merchandising standards, orientation for new employees, and systems training.
Create and foster an environment where employees will learn and grow.

Customer Fulfillment and Building Customers for Life

Leads by example demonstrating superior selling skills, and ensuring that every sales opportunity is maximized and the needs of every customer are exceeded each and every time.

Sales and Marketing

Will have developed strong selling skills and will have a focus on increasing units per transaction both personally and for the store team.
Support the business account initiatives in the store, looking for opportunities to generate additional sales.
Have a strong focus on merchandise presentation for their categories, ensuring that the standards established are met, as well as standards for signage, ticketing and price integrity.
Aware of the overall visual presentation of the store and will be current on merchandising techniques used by competitors.

Inventory Management
Managing one or more categories within the store and will be responsible for effectively managing the inventory.

Health and Safety Management

Manages and ensures Security and Health and Safety compliance through training and follow up, with a focus on respect for people.

Skills:

Knowledge of staffing and scheduling systems.
Management skills, including both supervision and management.
People skills; including leading, motivating, communicating, coaching, giving feedback, performance management, and succession planning.
Retail practices, including merchandising, market awareness, and opportunity development.
Basic computer literacy.

Experience:

Minimum 1-2 years experience with people leadership, including direct experience with recruiting, managing performance, team building and alignment of work teams.
